80-Year-Old Woman At Fault For Her Fatal Crash On Rt 22: PA State Police

An 80-year-old entered Route 22 "without proper clearance" causing the crash that led to her death, Pennsylvania State Police stated in a release on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The Harrisburg woman, whose name has been withheld, was driving her 2025 Kia Sportage north on South Oak Grove Road when she stopped and then entered Allentown Boulevard/S. Oak Grove Road in West Hanover Township without making sure the lane she was entering was unoccupied, according to PA State Police. 

She collided with a 2015 Ford Expedition driven by a 54-year-old Grantville man, at 6:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 around 6:22 p.m., PSP detailed in the release. Her vehicle was struck near the rear driver’s side door

She was taken to Hershey Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead, PSP noted. The man was not injured. 

If the woman had lived she could have been charged with "3324 Vehicle Entering or Crossing Roadway," as stated in the release.
